SOl braces for last-minute rush

After the Delhi University's staggering cut offs this year, the School of Open learning (SOl) is now fearing that the admissions to the institute might swell up. To counter the rush, the SOl had updated its online registration as students reportedly prefer offline admission..

"Admissions have increased as compared to last year. We made 90,000 admissions last year for two months and the last date was July 31. But, this year, we have already made 74,000 admissions and the last date will be extended till September 2. Every year, the number doubles in the last week of admissions and we have a month to go. It is expected that at least 40,000 more admissions will take place in the coming days," said HC Pokhriyal, Executive Director of SOl.

In order to create awareness among students, the SOl has started giving out pamphlets along with the admission brochure to students for registering in time. It requested the students to avoid last minute rush and come for admissions at the earliest and also take to online admissions.

"We noted in the last month there were 30,000 admissions, out of which only 503 were done online. We have found that the maximum number of online admissions per day is 20 to 25 only. If this remains the case, there will be a lot of chaos during the last week of admissions," said OP Sharma, Assistant Registrar of SOl.
