The General Railway Police (GRP) busted a gang of snatchers at the Ghaziabad railway station and recovered 10 stolen  mobiles and a laptop.

“The snatchers said they used to snatch items, five to six times a day, from passengers sitting at the window side,” Deputy Superintendent of Police, GRP, Randhir Singh said.

During interrogation, Ayyub, one of the arrested men, told police that they used to operate in pairs, and while one of them hit the hand of a passenger using a device, causing the mobile phone to fall on the platform, the other picked it up and ran away.

He said the gang members used to target passengers on long-distance trains and manage to steal five or six items daily. Police are applying for custody of the robbers to unearth other cases related to snatching, the DSP added.
