Snag affects Metro services on Blue line

Published on:

Hundreds of passengers were left stranded on Tuesday as the Metro services on the Blue line that connects Dwarka to Noida and Vaishali were affected for around an hour due to an operational snag.

A Metro official said that all the trains slowed down around 11.50 am as they failed to achieve their target speed of around 36 km/hour forcing central control room of DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation) to reset speed leading to a chain reaction of sorts. Trains got stuck in tunnels, elevated tracks and in stations.

line 3 and 4, popularly known as the Blue line, which stretches over more than 50 kms, is one of the busiest sections in the entire network. The line is also reported to be the most snag-prone stretch.

DMRC had recently replaced all the faulty insulators on the overhead electrification that had resulted in frequent snags disrupting rail operations in the recent past on this section.
