Indirectly stating that the Prime Minister’s recent rally at Ramlila Maidan in the national Capital didn’t appease crowds, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said that after all of BJP’s campaigns and attempts failed, they roped in retired IPS officer Kiran Bedi to be the face of the party in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. According to Kejriwal, the idea of
bringing in Bedi was to keep alive their last flame of hope in this election. “This time the truth will prevail and only the righteous will win. The BJP failed to gain people’s trust despite their negative campaigns. Even their rallies failed. So they have now presented Kiran Bedi as their leader for Delhi polls. But let me tell them, they can do all that they want, only those who are truthful and honest win. They can bring in whoever they want but this time the public will not fall for their
false hopes,” said the former Chief Minister. Subsequently the Aam Aadmi Party has launched a Twitter war against Kiran Bedi and Shazia Ilmi who just joined BJP. The party has been pulling out old tweets of the two and retweeting them to show their “hypocrisy”. This attack by AAP in fact began on Wednesday when rumours of Ilmi joining BJP floated in the media. Kejriwal on Wednesday was the first to target Ilmi as he retweeted one of her tweets, dating back to November 21, 2013 which said “Hypocrisy, thy name is BJP”. This particular tweet by Ilmi, who was in AAP at that time, criticised the BJP and Congress over its funding.
Similarly, founder AAP member Kumar Vishwas tweeted several tweets of Kiran Bedi in which she gave her views on the Congress, the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Vishwas even pulled out tweets that dated back to 2010. One of the tweets of Bedi that were retweeted by AAP members dated March 16, 2013 read: “One day, NaMo will have to respond with clarity about riot massacre.”
