Slim pickings for AAP's bargain hunters

Published on:

Unhappy with the plots offered by the Urban Development Ministry in the outskirts of Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is now hunting for yet another rented accommodation to set up its headquarters. While the party denied the offer from the Ministry, it is planning to move its headquarters somewhere near ITO or India Gate.

The AAP — which recently attained the status of being a State party — was given three choices by the UD Ministry — plot nos 3, 7 and 8, Phase 6 in Mehrauli-Gurgaon (MG) Road. But the party has rejected all three choices claiming that the site is too far from Central Delhi where offices of most national parties are located.

“All national parties have their offices in lutyens’ Delhi. Selecting a plot and building our office will take a year or two. So for now, we are planning to shift to a rented accommodation,” said an AAP member. The party is finding it hard to search a plot in lutyens’ Delhi, so it has now broadened its search to places like ITO, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg or near the India Gate.
