A taluka court on Wednesday sentenced Independent MlA Six-time MlA Omprakash Babarao alias Bachhu Kadu to one-year imprisonment for assaulting a traffic police constable at Achalpur in Amravati district of eastern Maharashtra.
Nearly one after year after he and aides assaulted traffic constable Indrajit Chaudhary, an Achalpur taluka court handed out one year sentence to Kadau and imposed a fine of Rs 600 on him.
Within hours after the court sentenced him to one year imprisonment, Kadu moved the same court and a bail. The incident had taken place on March 24 last year, when Kadu along with a few of associates was passing Paratwada ST depot. After seeing several private buses parked at the ST buses, Kadu demanded to know from police constable Indrajit Chaudhary as to the latter was not taking any action against the private bus drivers and owners concerned.
With the police constable not giving him a “satisfactory” reply, Kadu and his associates hurled abuses at Chaudhary and assaulted him.
