Six-lane flyover between Noida, Greater Noida to ease commuters' woes

Published on:
Coming as a big relief to the commuters plying from Noida to Greater Noida via Dadari-Surajpur-Chalera (DSC) road, the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA) plans to construct a six-lane elevated flyover here, which will enable the commuters signal-free smooth drive of 5-km-long stretch between Noida Sector-41 to Noida Special Economic Zone of Phase-II industrial area, that connects Greater Noida and Dadari.
Authority official said that it has proposed its amended Detail Project Report (DPR) of this flyover and has sent it to Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi to get approval of its technical feasibility. Authority will float its tender soon to start work on this project.Official, however, said that the Authority had stopped the speed-up working on this project because of the Detail Project Report, that was prepared earlier, being sent for re-examining after studying the alignment of proposed Metro link between Noida to Greater Noida that passes from DSC Marg.
Official said that `500 crore would be spent on this project and the construction work is to be start in next four months as the tendering process is to be completed. The construction work on this project is expected to complete in next one and half year. Additional Chief Executive Officer (ACEO) of Noida Authority Akhilesh Singh said, “We have brought new DPR on this project which has been sent to the IIT Delhi for its technical examining. The work on this project is to be start soon.”
Around two lakh commuters ply daily through this route to reach Greater Noida via Barola, Bhangel, Phase-II. But, they stuck in traffic mess during pick hours as the road passes through residential area, market, and heavy encroachment by vendors that cover more that half the road from both side. The villagers even have created several cuts after breaking the divider to get feasible crossing that cause to block the road. Even, breakdown of a heavy vehicle on this route creates large traffic jam and traffic cops feel hurdle to make it free.
Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Noida, RNP Mishra said, “The move will help to provide relaxation to Noida traffic police as the department is already facing human resources problem. DSC Marg is very intensive road for traffic congestion as thousands of office gores used this way to reach their offices.”Ravi Singh, a daily motorcycle commuter of this route, said, “I leave for my office in Greater Noida every morning via this route but long traffic jams don’t help to reach at workplace on time. Vehicle drivers apply pressure horns that irritate me too. I face the same while returning from this route in evenings.”An authority official said that it was only a signal road connecting Noida to Greater Noida when Noida-Greater Noida Expressway was not constructed here. The traffic movement is high on this route.
