Big chill puts travel plans on ice as 79 trains run behind schedule
The national Capital continued to reel under biting cold conditions as a blanket of fog affected visibility and badly hit rail operations with eight trains getting cancelled and 79 running behind schedule. The maximum temperature was recorded at 17°C, four notches below normal while the minimum settled two notches below the season’s average at 6.3°C. The visibility was 700 metres at 8.30 am and peaked to 1,400 metres as the day progressed and was 1,200 metres at 5.30 pm. While eight trains were cancelled on Friday, 79 trains delayed. Timings of three trains, including Amritsar-Nanded Sachkhand Express, Amritsar-New Delhi Express and Jalandhar-New Delhi Express were rescheduled, a railways official said.
However, no diversion or cancellation of flights due to fog was reported, according to airport authorities.
