Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and AAP leader Manish Sisodia hit out at the BJP alleging that it was a “party of illiterates” that wanted to keep the country “illiterate” as well, as the war of words between the two parties continued on Saturday.
His comments come after Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena sought a report from the chief secretary over the “delay” in action on a Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) report on the construction of classrooms in Delhi government schools.
“The BJP has left the liquor issue now and picked a new jumla of corruption in construction of schools. They raided CM’s office, then mine four years back. Then sent CBI to my house in a fake excise policy case, realised they will not find anything. So they’ve started something new now, on the schools built,” Sisodia said at a press conference. The AAP leader said that BJP is terrified of the Delhi model of education and the saffron party and the centre is conspiring to shut down Delhi government’s schools.
“Once the nation understands that schools across India can be transformed like Delhi, there’ll be an end to BJP’s model of opening private schools everywhere:,” said Sisodia. His counter-attack came in context of BJP making frivolous allegations on Delhi’s education system.
“In the last 7 years, over 72,000 schools have shut in BJP ruled states to make way for 12,000 private schools.
BJP worked on a mission mode to shut government schools down; 51,000 schools were shut between September 2018-September 2019 itself,” he said.
Sisodia said that it is the government’s responsibility to give quality education to each child of the nation, it is our duty to provide them with every facility, BJP’s cowardice of shutting down government schools is straightaway injustice.
“This nation can only develop if government schools are opened all over India and made better than private ones; private schools cater to 10 per cent to 20 per cent population, we can’t rely on them,” said Sisodia.
