In a move to revive the Urdu culture in the national Capital through Urdu literature and language, Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia inaugurated Urdu literacy Centre at Urdu academy on Friday
"Words do not belong to a religion but to the speaker. We just do not want to deliver the language but the message of humanity to people and Urdu is just the medium. All languages whether Hindi, Urdu or Sanskrit are a medium of educating people about humanity. All languages convey the same emotions, with variation only in the words being used," said Sisodia, the newly appointed Minister of Art and Culture while addressing the gathering.
"language acts as a binding force for the human race. There is no age for learning," said Sisodia, who was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the Urdu literacy Center.
Earlier this week, he announced constituting Hindi Sahitya Sangathan to revive Hindi language and literature through story telling in the city. He has also expressed keen interest in bringing Sanskrit to the mainstream. "We live in the national Capital with a mixture of people speaking different languages. Every language should have its institutions. All these institutions should keep the main focus on spreading humanity amongst its students and not just the words, grammar and enunciation. language is just a medium to float in the sea of humanity."
To assist the community in spreading the beauty of the language, Sisodia gifted kits containing all the necessary equipment including blackboard, books, chalks and pens to Urdu educators. "Those learning Hindi, should be encouraged to learn Urdu and vice versa. Once a person agrees to learn a language he is like a vessel, ready to be filled. We will then have a choice of filling it with Hindi, Urdu, Sanskrit or humanity. All languages are a path to reach the main goal of humanity," he said.
Shama Khan, one of the volunteer educator, said the monthly budget has been increased from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 to teach the students. The students undergo examinations on a yearly basis. The Urdu Academy provides books to all the students. The Urdu Academy is engaged in the promotion, propagation and development of Urdu language and literature in Delhi. It provides prizes to Urdu students and supplies books to Urdu medium schools and libraries.
