Though, the rising dengue cases in the national Capital have surpassed the figures of the dengue outbreak which occurred in the past decades, now a marginal decline in dengue cases is being reported, according to city doctors. Medical experts attribute the change to intensive fogging drive by civic agencies and awareness campaigns on the vector-borne diseases. Also, as the temperature dips down, the presence of Aedes mosquito larva decrease.

Besides, the record of municipal corporations also confirms the less dengue cases. On September 29, corporation said in its weekly report that more than 2,000 dengue patients were reported in the city whereas, this week about 1,120 fresh dengue cases are noticed.

According to the Dr DK Seth, director of the Hindu Rao Hospital Administration, “Aedes mosquitoes are only active in the early morning and late evening and at this time temperature settles down, therefore less cases of dengue are being noticed these days.”

With winter just round the corner, now there will be less moisture in the air. The coming days will be dry which will lead to less mosquito breeding spots. On Monday, about 30 cases of dengue fever patient visited the Hindu Rao Hospital, he said.

Dr Amita Saxena, Medical Superintendent of lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital said, “Gradually, there is slight decline in the dengue cases these days... In the last 24 hours, we have received only 14 dengue patients.”
