The Haryana Government has decided to create a single agency that will build all the roads in 22 districts. The agency will also accept complaints about damaged roads across 22 districts in the State. The step is being taken to avoid any confusion and delay of road construction work by the different agencies.
"By the end of December 2017, a single agency will be implemented in the 22 districts in the State. The districts will be handled by five agencies while one agency will build the entire district roads. Having a single authority in each district will not create any confusion with the jurisdiction and it will be responsible for bad road constructions," Haryana PWD Minister, Rao Narbir Singh, said.
"The State Government is keen to provide better road connectivity between the districts across Haryana," the Minister said. He further said that if a single agency builds the entire district's road then it will improve the work quality as well. The Minister believes the policy will benefit not just Gurugram but also other districts.
"To ensure a necessary action on the complaints, the department head will keep a vigil eye on the plaints and their duty will be to see that the road repair works is done on time," the Minister added.
As of now, the five different departments are building road projects in the State are: Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG), Public Works Department (PWD), Agricultural and Marketing Board and Haryana State Industrial & Infrastructure Development (HSIIDC).
Recently, a meeting was held in Chandigarh between officials of the five departments who were asked to come up with a scheme regarding this issue.
