Shops with swipe machines attract crowd

The Digital India theme of India International Trade Fair (IITF) got more significance due to demonitisation as most of the shops available with swap machines had visitors in large number shopping with their debit cards.

Dhirendra Singh, senior manager, Common Service Centre said, “Digital India project is focused to spread literacy in rural areas digitally. In rural areas, people do not avail digital facilities like urban areas. The aim of the CSC is to provide educational, health and basic facilities to rural people. According to Government mandate, there are 2.5 lakh panchayats in the country where atleast one CSC in each panchayat provides the health and educational facilities through digital literacy to atleast one person from every family. Also 50 per cent of the CSC employees are women which is a step forward towards women empowerment.”

“Around 60 per cent of India’s population live in rural areas where they have to face many problems as they are not well aware of many basic things. Hence the Government has adopted a visionary approach to solve their problems,” he added.

Despite being the overall theme for the trade fair, Digital India has a separate pavilion which grabbed visitors’ attention. The pavilion showcased all digital gadgets, including power, electricity models, Indian manufactured mobile phones, health checkup machines and Digital India feedback box. Another interesting thing spotted was ‘Hope of India’ wall where people were writing there feedback and support towards Digital India project and lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his good work.

Apart from this, majority of the people on Tuesday lauded the demonetisation policy and while others were against it mainly because of the frustration of standing in long queues outside banks for an entire day and return back home with no cash and disappointment.
