Sheila plants sapling at Rajiv Bhawan to mark Rahul’s 49th birthday

Delhi Congress president Sheila Dikshit planted a sapling  at Rajiv Bhawan, State headquarters on Wednesday to mark the party national president Rahul Gandhi’s 49th birthday.

Extending her  greetings to Gandhi, Dikshit said that crores of people in the country consider Rahul Gandhi as their dear leader and the Congress party will surely gain great heights under his dynamic leadership.

She said that the Congress workers will follow his guidance to serve the people of the country as well as in Delhi.

Dikshit, after planting the sapling, exhorted the Congress workers to plant at least

one sapling in their respective areas as the erosion of Delhi’s green cover was one of the reasons for the high levels of atmospheric pollution in the Capital.

“When Congress was in power in Delhi under her Chief Ministership for 15 years, every effort was made to enhance the green cover but for the past five years, Delhi has witnessed a depletion of the Capital’s green cover that resulted in the

rising levels of atmospheric pollution, which has crossed the danger levels many times in the recent years,” she said. Dikshit also exhorted the Congress workers to be an example for others to emulate in protecting and enhancing the green cover in Delhi by planting more and more saplings in their areas.

Many senior Congress leaders and a large number of Congress workers were present on the occasion including party’s working presidents Haroon Yusuf, Rajesh Lilothia and Devender

Yadav, former Delhi Ministers Mangat Ram Singhal, Ramakant Goswami (spokesperson) and Dr Kiran Walia, spokesperson Harnam Singh, Rohit Manchanda, District president Madan Khorwal and a large number of Congress workers.

Meanwhile, students and social institutions of dalits and block congress committee members of Sultan Pur Mazra celebrated birthday of the Congress president Rahul Gandhi.
