Police investigation into the murder of 42-year-old Rehana Chaudhary, the slain wife of BSP MlA Haji Aleem Chaudhary in UP, has revealed that she had last spoken to three persons — with her sister, shopkeeper of a phone recharge store and her husband.
In a related development, the MlA, Haji, and his younger brother had reached Welcome Police Station in North East Delhi on Friday evening and joined the investigation. Police sources said that after brutally killing the victim, the hired contract killer took out the SIM card of the victim’s cell phone and threw it in her living room. “The SIM card was recovered from the spot and after scanning the call detail records (CDR) of the victim, investigators said that on the day of incident, at 7.26 pm on Tuesday, she called her younger cousin, Meenu, who resides in Khureji Khas,” police sources added.
After calling her younger sister, she had called the local shopkeeper of a phone recharge store and asked him to recharge her phone. “Around 9 pm, she had spoken to her husband, Haji, who was in Jeddah for Haj. On Thursday night, investigators questioned the shopkeeper of the phone recharge store but had not made any headway,” police sources said, adding that on Friday, investigators have questioned the victim’s younger sister, Meenu, as well.
Police sources said that the victim’s younger sister, Meenu, told police that on Tuesday afternoon, she went to meet her aunt, Rachna, at her residence in Rajgarh Colony in Krishna Nagar but before lunch, she left her sister’s residence saying she was to go meet a religious group from Kuwait. Police investigation have so far indicated that the ground floor flat at New Jafrabad, valued at nearly Rs 1 crore, was the bone of contention between the couple. The flat was bought by Haji around seven years ago for his wife but for the last four months, the MlA wanted to sell it and also take his second wife along with him to Bulandshahr. However, Rehana was not happy with his decision and the couple constantly tussled over this issue.
