Shahdara Bar Association felicitates 'rioting' lawyer?

Published on:

On the day, when the Bar Council of India decided to take action against the “lawyers” who were found rioting for two days and beat up journalists, students and misbehaved with teachers, the Shahdara Bar Association on Thursday felicitated Vikram Singh Chauhan who attacked the mediapersons and others when JNU students’ union president Kanhaiya Kumar accused of sedition charges being produced in court on Monday and Wednesday.

The Bar Association took out a candlelight march against anti-national elements in the court premises and garlanded Vikram Singh Chauhan. “lawyers are also Indian citizens, how can anyone allow anti-India slogans or pro-Pakistan slogans being raised in IndiaIJ A movement (that) has found resonance amongst lawyers across the country,” he said.

Shahdara Bar Association president Mahesh Sharma while denying the allegations that Vikram has been felicitated said he was a part of the celebrations but we did not felicitate him. “Being the member of the bar, he can also take part in the candlelight march and I cannot stop him to do so.”
