From indirectly attacking the AAP, the BJP has now gone into direct confrontation mode with the upstart. On Thursday, BJP national president Amit Shah asked the party’s booth in-charges and panna pramukhs to go door-to-door to “remind” people of the “lies” of AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal and how he “fooled” them. While the alleged
“U-turns” of AAP is now going to be a major poll plank of the BJP, the party supremo also directed workers to talk about reduction in petrol and diesel prices in the past few months.
Shah was addressing a meeting of East Delhi’s booth in-charges and panna pramukhs as he gave specific bullet points of “Kejriwal’s pack of lies”. Writing off Congress from the polls and mocking Kejriwal and his party for using their “trademark of being aam aadmi,” Shah said, “When Kejriwal formed Government with the support of Congress he had a blue WagonR. It’s just a year and now he travels in an SUV. If you let Paanch Saal Kejriwal happen, do not be surprised to see a private jet parked on the tarmac in front of his residence.”
The saffron party is basking in the benefits of the steep decline in price of crude oil as its other poll plank for the February 7 Assembly elections is going to be the reduction in petrol and diesel prices.
“Ten years of UPA Government witnessed only an upward climb in the prices of petrol and diesel. But just seven months into governance under the leadership of Modi, BJP has reduced petrol and diesel prices as many as 11 times. You need to tell people that due to this, the monthly expenditure across any income of a family has had an overall decrease of Rs1,500,” Shah said, while speaking to workers at Surajmal Vihar in East Delhi.
