Sex racket busted in Rohini mall’s spa

The Delhi Commission for Woman (DCW) busted a ‘sex racket’ on Monday being run in a Spa situated in City Centre Mall in North West Delhi’s Rohini. The commission has received a complaint on woman helpline number 181 about the ‘The Attraction Spa’, of conducting illegal ‘prostitution’.

DCW Chief Swati Maliwal has also issued a notice to Delhi Police to ascertain reasons for not making any arrests. Further, a Notice has been issued to Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to ascertain whether any complaints had been received by them against the spa earlier as well as the action taken by them against the same.

“The call was made by a journalist who had done a covert operation and had gone to the spa pretending to be a customer and was offered girls at different rates. The complainant had made proper recordings of his conversation with the girls and the spa management,” said a member of DCW.

After receiving such complaint with evidence, the DCW along with Delhi Police of that circle reached the spot and caught culprits red handed. “We found 11 girls inside spa along there with condoms, medicines and some objectionable things,” said the official.

The DCW members further added that the girls have been taken to Prashant Vihar police station where there statements were recorded. An FIR has been lodged in the matter under section 3, 4, 8 of ITPC act. However, arrests have not been made.

“Prostitution is taking place big time in the Capital and many spas are becoming safe havens for the same. I fail to understand why the MCD and Police do not take strict action against the same. When DCW can take action and conduct operations following a call, why the other agencies remain silent. Spa’s in Delhi need to be regulated so that they don’t run trafficking rackets. The Commission will try and ensure proper arrests in the matter as well as closure of this spa which was being used as a brothel.” said DCW chief.
