Set up enquiry panel to probe discoms' irregularities: Cong

Congress leader Ajay Maken on Friday wrote a letter to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal asking him to set up an enquiry commission headed by a sitting High Court Judge to probe CAG findings vis-à-vis the private discoms.

“I completely agree with you that the findings and irregularities pointed out by the CAG are very serious in nature and therefore urge you to kindly make appropriate orders for a probe through an enquiry commission headed by a sitting High Court Judge,” Maken wrote to the CM.

“Such appointment shall be made in consultation with the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court.”

Maken’s letter comes at a time when a section of the CAG draft report was recently leaked, claiming inflation of dues to the tunes of Rs 8,000 crore by the private discoms.

In the letter, he has also requested the AAP Government to rollback the subsidy of Rs 2,000 crores per year being paid to the “corrupt” power companies.

“As this hefty amount in form of subsidy, being paid to the private companies -Reliance and Tata - now indicted by the CAG, is hard earned money of the people of Delhi, it is my humble opinion that the same can be well utilised for various development works and betterment of the poor in the city,” he said.
