A scuffle broke out between members of a family and restaurant staff in Spectrum Mall in Noida after an argument over service charge, prompting the police to investigate the matter and arrest five people. The incident occurred inside a restaurant where the family could be seen clashing with the bouncers and the staff of the establishment inside Spectrum Mall, after which the victims took to social media and narrated the incident.
A video of the brawl between customers and restaurant staff went viral on social media, where people from both sides can be seen beating each other inside the premises of the Spectrum Mall in Noida’s Sector 75.
A few people, presumably staff of the restaurant, are seen trying to calm the group down and end the fight but their efforts are in vain. It is reported that the clash happened over a service charge dispute inside the restaurant.
According to the restaurant ‘Float by Duty Free’, the customers’ bill stood at Rs 11,209 including taxes and a 10 per cent service charge of Rs 970 and remains unpaid because of the brawl and their property incurred damages while some staffers were also injured.
The victim claimed that around 30 people joined the clash from the restaurant’s side and proceeded to thrash and assault the family outside the restaurant, inside the Spectrum Mall.
According to Harish Chandra, DCP, Noida Zone, the scuffle broke out after the family received the bill with service charge mentioned in it.
“There was a fight between the two sides -- the group of customers and the restaurant staffers -- over the payment of service charge. Cases have been lodged on the basis of the complaint received from both sides. Those engaged in violence will be arrested,” Chander said Monday morning.
An official of the Sector 113 police station said Monday afternoon that five people have been arrested in connection with the case and the police have received video evidence of members of both sides engaging in violence.
