DU’s SRCC, Ramjas announce cut-offs; bar set as high as 99.75%

Students will face a tough competition this year while getting admission in Delhi University as the first cut-off list closed at 99.75 per cent for BCom Honours. While the entire consolidated list of cutoffs hadn’t been released by the university until midnight, out of the colleges which had released their lists on the website, Hindu College marked 99.75 as the highest qualifying percentage for admission in the BCom Honours programme leaving Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) and Hansraj College a little behind with 99.25 per cent for the same course.

With the sudden changes made in the admission procedure of the university this year, the colleges have been even more cautious with their cutoffs as they don’t know how many students would be applying for which course. Thus, BCom Honours almost saw a two per cent increase in cutoffs from last year. Even courses like BA programme have seen comparatively high cut-offs with Hansraj College closing at 96.25 per cent which is almost 1.25 per cent more than the highest in 2012-13 for the course.

For courses such as Economics Honours, the highest cut-off went up to 99 per cent at Hindu College, which was followed by SRCC at 98.25 to 97.25 per cent. For English, the cut-off is as high as 97 per cent in Hindu College and Miranda House. For Psychology, the cut-off at Gargi College is at 99.5 per cent, followed by Indraprastha College for Women at 98 per cent. Setting the benchmark, Shri Ram College of Commerce and Ramjas College of Delhi University on Monday were among the first to announce their cutoffs for admission to courses under three-year

format with the bar set as high as 98.75 per cent. After much delay due to the row over the controversial FYUP, admissions to academic session 2014-15 will begin on Tuesday much to the relief of over 2.7 lakh students who applied this year.

SRCC, ranked among the best in the country for higher studies in Commerce and Economics, announced high cutoffs for BA (Hons) Economics with Commerce students under general category required to have above 98.25 per cent to get admission in the elite institution. The cut-off for both Science and Humanities students under General Category was just one per cent less at 97.25 per cent. For SC and OBC students, the cutoff range was between 94.25 per cent and 96.50 per cent. Additional eligibility criteria by colleges, which had been done away with before FYUP rollback, has been brought back.
