The Delhi Government effected transfers of senior officers on Wednesday. Janak Digal, a 1985-batch IAS officer, will hold the additional charge of Principal Secretary (Power). Digal is holding the charge of CMD, Delhi Financial Corporation.

Also, he is holding the charge of Principal Secretary (Urban Development) while Sukesh Kumar Jain will remain in the charge of Secretary (power).

The Delhi Government has appointed Pawan Singh Rajawat, an officer of the Delhi Judicial Service as Additional Secretary (law, Justice and legislative Affairs). Rajawat has come on deputation initially for a period of one year.

It would be pertinent to mention that Jain was holding the independent charge for the past few months. The Power Department has become an important department after lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung had declared appointment of Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) chairman Krishna Saini illegal.

Sources in the Delhi Government said Raj Niwas is keen to appoint South MCD Commissioner Puneet Goel as Principal Secretary (Finance) after transfer order of SN Sahai, who has been transferred to Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

The final decision would be taken by Civil Services Board headed by Chief Secretary KK Sharma.

On the other hand, the rumours are that the l-G may appoint Dharmendra Sharma, a 1988-batch IAS officer, who is currently posted as the Chairman of Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB).

Sahai, also holding the charge of Home Department, is expected to join his new posting by October 3.

Bl Sharma, a 2004 batch IAS officer who is special Secretary (Urban Development) transferred and posted as member Delhi State Services Selection Board (DSSSB) as SS Ghonkrokta, a 2002 batch officer is retiring on superannuation on September 30.
