A large number of senior citizens on Friday held a dharna and demonstrated at Ganesh Nagar Chowk intersection on Najafgarh Road demanding immediate restoration and release of social welfare pensions.
The demonstration was led by BJP spokesperson Rajiv Babbar. “It is a matter of distress that the Kejriwal Government every alternate day spends over ` 2 crore on advertisments alone but is not ready to help out the Municipal Corporations in restoring social welfare pension causing great hardship to lakhs of senior citizens,”it said.
“I have been living in the same house for 40 years but my Delhi Government pension has been stalled on account of wrong address. On contacting relevant office, I was told the pension will be restored only after present MlA recommends,” said 87-year-old senior citizen Ram Rakhi .
