In yet another case of security breach, around 500 people staged a protest outside the residence of Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav at Ashoka Road.

The protesters demanded justice for a first year student of Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh, who was allegedly raped and murdered. The protesters marched from Jantar Mantar to reach the Minister's house. They also blocked the road which resulted in a massive traffic snarl for over two hours in Central Delhi. More than hundred security personnel were deployed at Yadav's residence to avert any untoward incident.

“We had also gone to the college, but nobody helped us. My daughter's post-mortem report also shows that she was raped and murdered. I demand a CBI enquiry into the matter,” said Ram Kishor Bhadana, father of the victim. Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal and his party members also joined the protest.

The father of the girl and a few family members were later allowed to meet Yadav. Her sister, Varsha claimed that they wanted to give the plea and were protesting peacefully, but police opened lathi charge and hurt a few family members. “My sister was brutally raped and murdered by the son of the university owner, Suraj Jain's son Manish Jain. Her friends were also involved in torturing her. She had once called my mother and told her that even though it was a girl's hostel, male friends of her roommates used to enter,” said Varsha Bhadana
