A security alert was sounded in and around 142 metro stations in the national Capital by the Delhi Police on Wednesday after an anonymous letter written in Hindi was discovered in the women’s toilet at the INA Metro Station warning of possible blasts in coming days.

Senior officials told The Pioneer that security employees at metro stations have been asked to be on high alert. Also, they have been asked to conduct regular check up in and around the stations’ vicinity.

An enquiry has been launched into the matter and police are yet to register any case. It was on Tuesday afternoon, when a woman passenger spotted the bag and the letter. She informed the metro security officials, who seized the letter on which it was written that Delhi will see blasts in several places in coming days.

“In the preliminary probe it was found to be an activity by some mischievous elements to create panic but we are taking all precautionary measures,” said the officer.

Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which looks after the frisking and checking inside the metro stations have alerted its staff.  local Police stations staffs have also been asked to increase the vigil and keep a check in their areas.
