As Jewish Spring Festival begins on Wednesday, the security agencies in the national Capital have stepped up vigil outside all Jewish establishments fearing untoward incidents during congregation.
In Delhi, Special Commissioner of Police Arvind Deep, heading anti-terror unit, apprised Commissioner of Police Alok Kumar Verma of the security threat following which directions were issued to step up the security apparatus across the Jewish establishments, particularly Chabad House at Paharganj in Central Delhi.
The Central Intelligence Agencies last week had also issued an alert about the threat perspective and have written to all the police force across the states and cities to step up security outside the Chabad House.
The Jewish people living in the India had been always the target of terror groups and in Delhi too. The woman, Tal Yehoshua Koren, sustained moderate injuries that required surgery to remove shrapnel while her driver and two bystanders suffered minor injuries.
Similarly, on July 16, 2014, unidentified men in a SUV allegedly opened fire outside a house in south Delhi’s Vasant Vihar area Several Israeli nationals, including some working with the Israeli Embassy, live in the house that is located right opposite Delhi Public School.
Police officials had also found two empty bullet casings that were apparently fired from a handgun that is generally used to start track and field races.
