A 9-year-old girl had to brave the nightmare of molestation after a security guard tried to touch her inappropriately. The shocking incident took place in a Government school in Green Park area under the jurisdiction of Safdarjung Enclave police station. South district police later arrested the accused security guard on the charges of outraging the modesty and under sections of Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act on Monday evening.
According to the police, the incident took place on Saturday afternoon after school hours. The victim, a student of a Government school in the area was about to leave for home. The security guard stationed near the school gates noticed her and called out her. Before she could fathom his real motives, he picked her up. The girl was familiar with the guard at the gates. But when he scooped her up in his arms and started to fondle her, the petrified girl started crying. He finally released her. The girl confided in her parents. Since school was shut over the weekend, the parents of the victim reached school on Monday and lodged a complaint with the principal of the school and informed the police.
Following the complaint, a case of molestation was registered on Monday at Safdarjung Enclave police station. Police swung into action and arrested the accused the same day itself. Police officials refused to divulge the name of the accused as it would establish the identity of the victim.
