In the wake of severe pollution in the national Capital, South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has lodged 255 'First Information Report' (FIR) in last two days against various violations related to air pollution.
A senior SDMC official said that the action was taken as per section 15 of National Green Tribunal Act 2010.
"The civic body also carried out 751 inspections and issues 213 challans against violators besides imposing fine of Rs 4, 80,000 in all four zones.
The official said that 83 water tankers and 24 mechanical road sweepers deployed on Wednesday for water sprinkling and sweeping roads. "SDMC has also identified regular sites where construction debris is found dumped illegally during the night. At least 40 special night patrolling teams have been deployed with direction to take action against them," he added.
Following the directions of Prime Ministers' Office and Chief Secretary of Delhi, SDMC is leaving no stone unturned to mitigate the prevailing pollution. SDMC Commissioner Gyanesh Bharti has instructed all the officers to be present in the field and to share the live locations of their designated spots of inspection.

The Commissioner on Tuesday also visited several areas to monitor ground level situation. He also inspected Okhla hotspot and took stock of the action plan and measures taken to lower down the worsening air quality in its surrounding areas.
Commissioner further directed the officials to take all possible additional measures to mitigate the high levels of pollution and there will be zero tolerance for open burning of garbage, waste, using of tandoors, illegal dumping of 'Construction and Demolition' (C&D) waste.
