South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has sealed 10 properties at 17 points in lajpat Nagar Part1 and 2 for ongoing misuse in stilt parking areas.
A senior SDMC official said that the sealing drive was conducted as per the directions of the Supreme Court-appointed Monitoring Committee to crack down on unauthorised constructions in the city.
Earlier this year, the civic body in a similar action had sealed 350 shops in lajpat Nagar for violating MCD's norms.
Thousands of shops have been sealed since December last year in the national capital. The building department of the municipal corporations had started sealing business establishments for non-payment of conversion charges, encroachment and illegal construction on the instructions of the Supreme Court-appointed Monitoring Committee.
Meanwhile North Delhi Municipal Corporation has also sealed 22 shops in Rohini, Ishwar Colony, Kalyan Bihar and Narayana vihar. East Delhi also sealed 14 shops in areas of Bhajanpura, Jyoti Nagar and M S Park.
