The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has sanctioned 3,838 building plans in the last two years under ease of doing businesses. The online facility was introduced in 2016 allowing residents of all the three municipal corporations to apply for construction permits without visiting offices.

SDMC Commissioner Dr Puneet Kumar Goel said the building plan sanction process has been greatly simplified, made completely online and public interaction by the staff is not at all required in whole the process. “The facility is one of the major reforms undertaken by the corporation. The move to approve building plans through single window system has been successful,” he said.

Under of ease of doing business, three municipal corporations in collaboration with the Geo Spatial Delhi ltd (GSDl) has developed a colour coded zonal map to ascertain the requirement of NOC for a particular property, Goel said.

“This map is quick and reliable in providing information on the requirement for an NOC as by just clicking on a particular location on the map one can ascertain the requirement of the NOC with the help of longitude and latitude,” he added.

He also said the facility is quite useful for the architects and the persons willing to construct building.

A SDMC official said that external departments like Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, National Monuments Authority, Delhi Jal Board, Delhi Fire Service, Chief Inspector of Factory, Heritage Conservation Committee and Airports Authority of India have also been integrated with online common application form module.

“Introducing such reforms, the SDMC has sanctioned 3838 plans in the last two years. Also, 132 ‘Occupancy Cum Certificates’ has also been issued since the implementation of online system,” he said. A senior SDMC official said that the occupancy certificate usually issues after ensuring that the building was constructed according to the plan sanctioned,

The official also said that many more reforms are in pipeline.
