In order to keep a tight vigil on the activities of children, South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has installed closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV) in all its 581 schools.
A senior SDMC official said that the installation of cameras started in October 2018 and completed weeks before the deadline.
“The aim of installing these cameras is to ensure safety of children and also to monitor the activities of the children,” he said.
“The move will ensure averting any untoward incidents. CCTV will be installed at isolated places of schools besides gates and corridor. The step has been taken to fulfill our commitment towards providing foolproof security to the students. It will also help us keep a check on teachers as well,” he said.
The civic body in its bid to transform children lives in its schools has taken a number of measures, including turning the classroom into a smart one with a smart board, projectors, Interactive pad, Podium, UPS, speakers and other hardware and software to make the study interesting.
The official also mentioned that the agency will monitor CCTV cameras to fix the quality of primary education apart from keeping an eye on the security of children. “A monitoring team will be constituted in every zone and the SDMC officials at the headquarters will supervise it from the control room at the Civic Centre,” he said.
