Union Power Minister R K Singh and Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal inaugurated Delhi’s first fully automated tower car parking with the capacity to accommodate 136 cars at Green Park through video conferencing.
The tower has automated ticket dispenser with boom barrier at entry and exit of the parking and there will be parking charges as per South Corporation notified rates with Rs 20 per hour, Rs 100 for 24 hours, Rs 1200 day pass (monthly) and Rs 2000 day and night pass (monthly), a senior SDMC official said.
The retrieval time of the vehicle in the tower parking will be 150 seconds in comparison to 15 minutes in the conventional parking, he said.
Speaking on this occasion R K Singh congratulated South Corporation for selecting the most feasible new age parking system to overcome the parking in and around the Green Park.
Sing offered expertise consultation to boost the innovative actions in future. While giving a detailed description of the projects being executed by the Ministry, he expressed hope that the projects will go a long way in accelerating the pace of development in the city.
Baijal, on the occasion said that this sort of vertical parking is most appropriate in the congested markets and populated colonies as it requires just 1.50 square meter space to park a car in comparison to the 30 sq. meter required in conventional parking.
“All three MCDs should come up with effective parking area management to deal with the parking problem in their jurisdiction. While giving details of the project, he said that the new era steel structured modular designed tower parking is flexible, hence can be installed at another place, eco- friendly, accommodates maximum number of cars in minimum space, faster parking and retrieval, customized parking solution, comprehensive fire safety, fully safe and parking through lifts,” he said.
SDMC Commissioner Gyanesh Bharti while welcoming Union Minister referred to the achievements and ongoing major projects of SDMC said that the civic body has taken major steps to increase the number of parking sites. “The Tower parking project is another initiative to develop useful property over a limited sized plot. The cost of the project is Rs, 18.20 Crore. The height of the towers is 39.50 meters and there are 17 numbers of floors in each tower accommodating 17 cars on the other side of the car lift of the tower totaling to 34 cars in each tower,” he said.
