Cracking the whip against unauthorised constructions mushrooming in South Delhi, the building department (South Zone) of South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has demolished illegal properties in Katwaria Sarai, Ghitorni and other areas. The Corporation started a special drive against such construction in June this year.
A total of 259 demolition and sealing actions has been done in areas like Chhattarpur, Khirki Extension, Kishangarh, Malviya Nagar, Ghitorni Rajpur Khurd, Sainik Farms, Shahpur Jat, Vasant Kunj, Said-ul-Azaab, Khanpur, Munirka, Green Park Main etc.
A senior official of SDMC said that there was widespread news that the unscrupulous builders had developed a strong tendency to swindle the innocent buyers offering them flats, with the temptation of giving them more habitable built up area but the truth is these buildings were build up without getting sanctioned from the competent authority.
“People develop blind faith in such deceitful builders and fall into their trap, and they invest their lifetime hard-earned money in purchasing such illegal properties,” he said.
The SDMC has advised people not to begin construction before getting building plan sanctioned as the process of sanction has been fully simplified and the number of enclosures to be submitted with the application has been substantially reduced.
“Further the process is online and there is no need to visit offices. The plan is being sanctioned within 10 days,” a release of the SDMC stated.
“The residents of the Capital are advised in their own interest that before buying any property, they must check the builders’ credibility and know the truth and background of the property they intend to buy,” he said.
The violators committing infractions of provisions of Master Plan-2021, Unified Building Bye-laws-2016 and DMC Act-1957 governing the construction activities in the Capital will be sternly dealt with as per law by the S.D.M.C. in the days to come,” the official said.
