In a rare display of bravery and compassion, journalist and social worker M Atharuddin Munne Bharti saved the life of an 18-year-old boy by taking him to hospital in time after the boy had been electrocuted near Kalindi Kunj Park in Okhla

The incident occurred a few days back when Munne Bharti, who works with NDTV India, had gone out for a morning walk in Kalindi Kunj Park where he saw the boy, identified as Satyendra, lying near a transformer in semi-conscious state with his body shaking and froth coming out of his mouth.

locals said when Bharti tried to pull out Satyendra Yadav, he received electric shock and was thrown away. When he realised that the boy was being electrocuted, Bharti again pulled out Satyendra and took him to a nearby private hospital.

“When I touched his body, I got the shock of my life,” Bharti said. After reaching the hospital, Bharti called Satyendra’s family to the hospital. Doctors said Satyendra made it to the hospital just in time as any further delay would have put his life in serious danger. A resident of Khadar Vistar, Satyendra runs an auto rickshaw to provide for his family.
