Meanwhile, Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) weather expert Dr Rajendra Jenamani said this summer's first long spell of dust hit the airport on Friday, bringing visibility down, “It reduced visibility from 4,000 m at 9am to 2,500m by 6pm as airport has a wind of 7 kmph at morning increased to a very stronger wind of 25 kmph wind gusting frequently and which touching 46 kmph by 5pm,” Dr Jenamani said while sharing his weather observations.
“The IGIA did not get any rain or thunderstorm. But weather wise, variation looks unusual as it has three major phases: A-during 6am-9am-Visibility 4,000 m and winds normal of 5 to 15kmph. B- 9am-1430 IST Visibility 3,500 m and winds 20 to 35 kmph. C-Visibility 2,500 m and higher contents of blowing dust as wind speed could reached up to 45-50 km per hours very often as gusty winds,” said the weather scientist.
Forecasting high wind speed and weather conditions at IGIA, he added that 'Gusty wind' likely calm down by night of Friday. Gusty winds again likely during 23-25 April followed with partly cloudy/one or two spells of TS/light rains during 27-29 April 2018. Deterministic forecast shows the chances of occurrences of latter bad weather at IGIA during 27-29 April has 50-75 per cent probability. The sky will remain clear on Saturday.
