The scorching heat coupled with high humidity caused much inconvenience to Delhiites on Monday. While the maximum temperature remained three notches above normal, the weatherman has predicted similar weather conditions on Tuesday as well. Meanwhile, the Met department considers this to be normal and attributed the sudden rise in temperature to no rainfall, to the absence of a low pressure condition near the Capital.

“On Monday, the sky remained clear throughout the day making the city bereft of even light rains. Moreover, the current system does not favour heavy rain as well. On Tuesday and Wednesday, there is almost no possibility of rains. However, light rains in a few areas cannot be ruled out,” said a senior official of the Met department.

The temperature on Monday was 1.7°C more than Sunday’s, along with humidity which oscillated between 60 and 95 per cent. The maximum temperature was recorded at 36.7°C, while the minimum was 26.1°C, which is normal for this time of the year.

The Met department has predicted a clear skies on Tuesday with a low probability of rain. The maximum temperature will remain at 34°C, whereas the minimum is expected to be around 26°C.

Delhi so far has received an excess rainfall of 762.6 mm, whereas the season’s normal is 498 mm which is 53 per cent above normal.
