All the private and Government schools will remain closed from July 18 to July 21, 2017 in view of kanwariyas (Shiva Devotees) heavy inflow in the city. Ghaziabad District Magistrate (DM) Ministhy S Nair has ordered all the schools including private, Government, convent and Public schools to remain close from July 18 to 21.

“The step has been taken in view of heavy inflow of kanwariyas who come from Haridwar to offer water at Dudheswar Nath temple in the city,” said the district information officer (DIO) RB Singh.

Since the traffic has been diverted from major roads in the city, the school-going children would face the problem. And the NH-58 has been closed for heavy traffic so majority of the city dwellers would not be able to send their children to schools so the District Magistrate (DM) has taken this step, the DIO said.

The Shivratri falls on July 22 and devotees would start coming to the temple on July 21 night onwards and it would be conclude in the morning on July 22.

All the schools would start functioning as per their schedules added DIO.

The entire district administration is functioning on war footing level to ensure water, food and electricity supply in the city. The DM Ministhy S Nair and her deputy ADM City Preety Jaiswal are working day and night for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the water immersion program for which drones and helicopters are being kept in reserve for air surveillance added the DIO.
