'Schools fail to fill seats due to Govt's misconceived policy'

Published on:

leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta on Friday said that only 130 private schools out of 2,500 schools have been able to fill seats due to the Delhi Government’s highly misconceived and erroneous policy for nursery admissions. Gupta alleged that in rest of the schools the seats lie vacant even when parents in need are running from pillar to post to get their wards admitted in nursery schools.

The leader of Opposition said that administration of the private schools is coming out with ways to force anguished parents to give donations for their child’s admission. Gupta demanded Delhi-lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung to put an end to the blatant loot of such schools.

Gupta said that it is due to the negligence on the part of the Delhi Government

that the private schools have got a golden opportunity

to exploit the parents and extract donations.

“The Delhi Government had, earlier, decided February 29, 2016 as the last date for nursery admissions. After that, they kept on extending the date and now, March 31 has been chosen as the last date for admissions. The problem, parents faced, was that they had to apply online for their children’s admissions. A lottery was taken out for those who applied online. Those children who got selected from the lottery process are not being provided admissions in schools closer to their homes but in those schools that are out of budget and those parents who want admission of their children in their preferred schools are being shown door by the officers of the Education department as well as the management of the private schools,” added Gupta.
