Speaking to The Pioneer, Chanchal Yadav Secretary, NDMC, “We want to improve the performances of students by motivating them to compete with each other and produce best results. We have segregated the scholarship amounts and have bridged the gap between NDMC and NAVYUG schools. Now the toppers for class 10th and 12th will be selected after the combined results from the both schools are scrutanised .”

Earlier, the amount of scholarship was far less and was framed long time back. We felt that it needed a fresh look, the Secretary said.

The proposed scholarship scheme for class 12th topper will be selected each from Arts, Commerce and Science background after assessing the combined result from NDMC and Navyug schools. The scholarship amount for 12th class topper will be Rs21,000 for Arts, Commerce and Science stream students. For securing A1 results in all the five subjects, a student will get Rs11,000.  Any student, scoring 100 per cent in any subject will receive Rs7,500. If a student scores 90 per cent in aggregate or more marks will be given Rs5,000. While overall subject topper will receive a scholarship of Rs5,000 and 0.1 percentile of CBSE certificate among the toppers will get an amount of  Rs5,000 respectively.

According to the new proposed scholarship scheme for class 10th, student scoring A1 in all subjects with Cumulative Grade Points Average (CGPA) 10 will receive an amount of  Rs11,000 rupees and student scoring A1 in  four main subjects with CGPA 9, will get an amount of  Rs7,500.

Apart from class 10th and 12th, the council will conduct the ‘talent search test’ NDMC Talent search for the classes 3,4,5,6,7,8 and 9 and 11. “In this, top 0.5 per cent percentile scoring students will be awarded monthly cash intensive of  Rs500,” the Secretary added. Besides, schools will also provide individual mentors for grooming bright young minds.

“A student winning ‘NDMC talent search’ for two consecutive years will be provided an exposure and educational trips like Jammu& Kashmir to boost their morale,” said the official.

The existing scholarships being offered in NDMC/NAVYUG were framed long back and the department of education has reviewed and upgraded the schemes in more innovative way that it will connect the all students to achieve their target.
