The Delhi Government would issue Food Security Cards to all eligible families. Elaborating the implementation plan during the launch of the food security programme, Special Commissioner (Food and Civil Supplies) SS Yadav stated the eldest woman in the household would be treated as head of households and issued a ration card, provided she is not less than 18 years of age.
Yadav also informed that Delhi has over 98 per cent coverage of Aadhaar and the scheme is linked with it.“The applications from eligible households are being received in more than 200 places -- including offices of Food & Supplies Department and Gender Resources Centres,” he said. Presently, the Public Grievance Commission would function as State Food Commission.
“Helpdesks have been established in the offices of Food and Supplies officers to guide the applicants and help them in filling up the application forms. The preliminary scrutiny of the applications and documents would be undertaken at Helpdesk. A Call Centre with four digit number 1967 and a Toll Free No.1800 110 841 are in place to answer queries and register complaints,” said Yadav.
For ensuring transparency and proper functioning of the targeted Public Distribution System, Vigilance Committees would be set up to regularly supervise the implementation.
While households having annual income of less than Rs1 lakh per annum will be eligible, no income tax payers, vehicle and house owners, Government employees or any household with an electricity connection of above 2 KW are eligible under the scheme.
