The Supreme Court’s Green Bench headed by Chief Justice Hl Dattu  on Monday sought the response of the Centre and Delhi Government by Thursday on a suggestion received from senior advocate Harish Salve prescribing a minimum tax of Rs600 for light commercial vehicles and Rs1,200 for heavy commercial vehicles.

Salve in his application explained that living in Delhi is becoming a health hazard, particularly for children, who are facing severe breathing disorders. Giving his own example, Salve said, “I had to take steroids two days back. My daughter has asthma, my wife has asthma. The pollution by particulate matters we cant imagine. They are so fine that your body cannot stop it.”

Even the CJI had something to share. “Even my grandson wears a mask to school. He looks like a ninja.”
