lieutenant-Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung on Tuesday voiced concern regarding kitchen services, parking facilities and sanitation as he inspected the lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital (lNJP) Hospital’s medical and infrastructural facilities. Over two hours, he went through the emergency block, diabetes unit, dialysis centre, casualty wing and OPDs while he heard the concerns of the patients, doctors and hospital staff.
Urging the hospital to take up more programmes about health awareness, Jung said, “There should be greater awareness generated about haemophilia since lNJP has one of the largest haemophilia centres in the country. People should be aware of bleeding disorders and realise the value of blood banks and particularly of blood donation.” He added the more people should come forward and donate blood. The World Haemophilia Day is observed on April 17.
During the visit, a presentation on envisioning lNJP as a model hospital was made to him. The presentation highlighted the challenges that lay before a hospital such as patient amenities, infrastructure development, human resources management and IT-enabled services.
“Hospitals are critical for any city, but more so for a city like Delhi which caters to not just the residents of Delhi but to thousands of patients who come from outside Delhi seeking medical help. It becomes all the more necessary for hospitals to be equipped such that they can live up to the growing needs of the patients,” said Jung, who also visited the catering facilities and voiced concerns about the food being served to the patients.
