Intensifying the drive against illegal sand miners, the Noida Police have arrested three people and seized nine vehicles involved in the process on Sunday.
Those arrested have been identified as Farooq, Akhtar and Alkhtar. Six other drivers managed to flee from the spot.The police along with the district administration have formed various teams, which are conducting regular raids in the riverbed and flood zone areas. Recently many trucks were seized which were illegally transporting sand. Taking advantage of the time when Government officials are busy with election-related work, sand mafia in Gautam Buddh Nagar has become active and transportation of sand from the Yamuna and Hindon riverbanks is going at a brisk pace.
