Salon staffer booked for inappropriate touching

A visit to a beauty parlour turned out to be a traumatic experience for a 30-year-old woman who was allegedly sexually harassed inside the posh Javed Habib Salon by a staffer in South Delhi.

The woman submitted a complaint to the Vasant Kunj North police station, alleging that she was inappropriately touched by a staffer when she visited the salon at a mall in South Delhi’s Vasant Kunj on March 6. An FIR has been registered against the staffer following  the complaint, police said. The woman said despite complaining to the management of the salon, no action has been taken against the staffer.

In her complaint, the woman said, “On March 6, around 5pm, I went to the Javed Habib Salon at the Vasant Square Mall to get a hair wash, hair massage and other beauty related work. The Head of the Staff sent one Mantaaz Hussain. While Hussain started with the hair massage, he first started touching me at the neck, then went and touched on my shoulders. Since it is not the first time that I was getting a hair massage, I sat there patiently. His hand suddenly moved to my cleavage and he started touching my breasts inappropriately. In shock, I shouted and stood up from the chair.”

The complainant further said, “There was another staffer present in the room but he went to another room, pretending not to have seen the incident.”
