Delhi Congress along with the Safai Karamchari Unions held a dharna outside the Keshav Puram zone office of the civic body, demanding that the salary pending for months be released immediately.
Hundreds of party workers and leaders of various unions also participated in the dharna. The party also demanded that the Rs 1 crore compensation announced by the Delhi Government for the Corona warriors, should be given to the sanitation workers also who died on Covid duty.
The Congress, in association with the Safai Karamchari Unions, has been holding Nyay March dharnas outside MCD zonal offices demanding justice for the MCD workers and payment of their pending salaries.
Delhi Congress president Anil Kumar said that it was strange that the BJP and AAP, who are responsible for the plight of the MCD employees for the non-payment of their salaries, have been working in tandem to fool the MCD workers.
Kumar said that only the Delhi Congress has been highlighting the grievances and demands of the MCD employees, while the BJP and AAP have been busy trading charges against each other, instead of addressing the problems of the MCD workers.
Party vice-president and former MLA Jai kishan said that both the BJP and AAP have failed in delivering promises to people. “The AAP has done nothing on ground except fooling people on the name of freebies and on the other hand the BJP- rules Corporation have made the lives of their employees miserable by holding salary for months. Both the parties are busy in passing the buck on one another,” Jai Kishan said.
