Sacked AAP Minister Khan faces another blow

Published on:

The North Delhi Municipal Corporation on Tuesday demolished an illegal six-storey building in Shankar Gali, Ward No 82 which belongs to former Delhi Government Minister Asim Ahmed Khan who was expelled last week over graft charges.

The Corporation said the building was illegal as it was constructed flouting norms and hence it was razed.

“We had earlier identified the building illegal and decided to demolish it,” said an official of the North Corporation.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had on Friday sacked Khan from the post of Minister for Food and Environment for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 6 lakh from a builder, and recommended a CBI probe into the case.

Also, North Delhi Municipal Corporation Mayor Ravinder Gupta had ordered an enquiry into the allegations of graft against the civic body’s officials.

“An enquiry by Vigilance department has been ordered to find out if any North DMC official asked a bribe from any builder in the case,” Gupta said, adding that strict action will be taken against guilty officers and staff members.

Gupta also claimed that most of the Delhi Government Ministers were involved in graft cases and “Khan’s graft case is just the tip of the iceberg.”
