The rumour is also widely circulated on social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook. In one such tweet, a user wrote that the cost of a kilogram of salt is Rs 400 in Uttar Pradesh.
Meanwhile, Khajuri Khas resident, Ashmak Maity said after he heard of the development, he quickly went to the nearby shops to buy salt but stocks in most of the shops were found to be over.
“I quickly ran downstairs to the locality shops but most of the shopkeepers said that their stock of salt for the day was over. Finally I got two kilos from one shop,” said Maity.
Maity further said if the news is a rumour then it is an unfortunate one. “This sudden development has caused panic and inconvenience for residents all over Delhiites. If it is a rumour then it is an unfortunate one but atleast our 2000 rupee have come to use today,” added Maity.
