Delhi Police arrested two men for allegedly firing in the air at a wedding following a dispute over the amount of 'mehr' to be paid by the groom’s family to the bride.
According to a senior police officer, we received a call at around 2 am regarding firing in the air. On reaching the spot, we found that a dispute happened between the bride and the groom's family over Mehr. Following this, two boys Yogesh and Majid from the groom's side opened fire.
In the enquiry, we found that when the groom's family, hailing from Najafgarh, tried to convince the bride's kin to reduce the 'Mehr' amount, which was earlier fixed at Rs 50,000, it led to an argument.
Police said that they have registered a case under IPC section 336 at the Geeta Colony police station.
