Two days after a JNU student was brutally attacked by her classmate on the campus, her condition is stated to be stable and she may be shifted to the general ward within two days.
Roshni Kumari Gupta was removed from ventilator on Friday. Doctors attending her said that her health parameters have improved considerably.
Senior doctors of the Neurosurgery Department added that her pulse, blood pressure and other health parameters were normal. However, CT scan on Friday revealed that the injury in brain is very deep and may take time to heal.
"Roshni is now breathing normally without ventilator support, but at times her pulse is very feeble. She is under constant monitoring," a doctor said. According to senior officials of the hospital, till now five units of blood have been administered to her and there is a chance that when the preliminary treatment is over, another brain surgery might be conducted, as some pieces of the skull are still stuck inside her brain, which needs to be removed. "In the attack, her skull was badly damaged. Even the blood vessels which were damaged need to be operated upon," said a source.
Dr BD Athani, Medical Superintendent of the Safdarjung Hospital said, "We cannot reveal the prognosis of our treatment right now. All we can say that our team of doctors is constantly monitoring her condition and she will take time to recover."
