The 18-year-old Shiva Kalra — who was murdered by his friends including a juvenile — was the only source of strength for the family. His mother and younger sister were depending on him for financial support as his father had passed away around seven years back after an ailment. Therefore, taking responsibility of the entire house, Kalra even quit his regular studies and was taking a correspondence course. He was searching for a job to meet the financial needs of his family.
He left home on Sunday night telling his mother that he was going to bring pizza for dinner. little did his mother know that he would never come back. None of the family members knew that a fight which had taken place one month back would lead to the death of their only support. Around a month back the accused juvenile had thrashed Kalra in Japanese Park area. A passerby had informed the police. later on, both the families were called at Prashant Vihar police station where the matter was settled.
“When this case happened we thought that it was a casual fight among youngsters. The accused had said that he would kill him but we really did not think that this would happen. We assumed that he said this on spur of the moment,” said Gulshan Kalra, his uncle. Shiva’s mother was inconsolable. Shiva was her only hope.
Family members also revealed that Shiva had met the juvenile around six to eight months back. He later got to know that he was involved in petty crimes in Pitampura area. He started keeping a distance from him and had once informed the police about it verbally. Shiva and the juvenile had a heated argument. To make up for the loss, Shiva apologised to him through a social networking site stating that he did not utter anything incorrect about him.
“The police have arrested the accused men and the juvenile has been apprehended. The juvenile boy was the mastermind but we will fight for justice,” added Gulshan. Shiva had gone missing from Outer Delhi’s North Rohini area was later found dead in Haryana’s Murthal area with gunshot injuries the same day he went missing.
The accused men burnt his body and threw it in a gunny bag. The two other accused have been identified as Varun Jindal and Parth. The plan was hatched by the juvenile. He procured a country-made pistol and the four friends left for Murthal on a scooty. They shared a meal with him and then took him to the nearby fields where he was strangled and shot thrice and then set on fire.
